haiz... my holiday like not holiday one lor, join too much activities le, maybe over-working myself man. then join the Work Attachment Programme (WAP), worked at Geylang Senior Citizens Health Care Centre from 21Nov to 25Nov... man it is crazy there lor, all work and no play there lor... haiz, i will not sign up for this kind of unpaid work attachment again man, it is like a nicer name for free child labour lor... haha, very sian there, could have spend that one week for doing overdue hw and play games lor... hahaha... but i did have some unforgettable experiences that i had there lor...
when reach there for the 1st time, was abit too early and everyone dunno where we come from lor, stupid man, they like didnt plan anything for us also lor, then got this PMS woman at the admin countor (she is like the 2 librarians in YJC lor)... hahaha... she scold us, saying that we didnt do anything when we came or tel her where we from, but when we actually go tell her, she told us to go back to sit at the chairs where we were standing at 1st, then she like forget abt us for a moment then a lady came to give us our timetable for the whole week... looking at the timetable, we saw changing diapers, bathing, homecare visit and hands-on care-giving... haiz, then went to start doing the task given to us...
haiz over the past one week of working there, i realized that the elderly and stroke patients there actually quite sad lor... haiz, i vow here and now, "i will nv put my grandparents, parents or relatives in all kind of old folks home", as when i was in this kind of place, a normal old ppl can go crazy one lor, juz by standing at the place then everyone will think u r crazy or sth...
hahaha... i observed over the past 5 days is that the elderly and stroke patients actually got a certain pattern of doing things, it take juz the 1st and 2nd days to discover this funny way of doing things lor... tell u all some funny one... got this old lady, she really likes to scold and hit us lor, then everytime she "i no use" in hokkien, too bad she is old le (93) or i will i will use all the funny @#$%ing bad words in hokkien i ever know lor... hahaha... then also got this malay lady that continuously say "abang" (bro or husband in malay) but only after eating lunch...
but what i cant stand abt this whole job attachment is that there were other volunteers from outside places, like sec sch and nursing students from poly, but "ren fu yu shi" (too many ppl doing to little things), coz the sec sch students juz sit at the sofa and do nth while the ppl working at the centre juz keep asking us to do this do that, then those student juz look at us, using their eye power... then later found out that they were actually serving detention at the centre lor, WTF, they serving detention by sitting there and do nth, or juz play guitar... what kind of bloody detention u call that... the poly nursing students r quite nice, u help them, they help u, but when talking to them, they were like asking us how can we standing working here for like 1 week lor, they 1 day already cant take it... hahaha... see how stressful that place is lor...
this following event i like, on thursday, got this malay gal from the sec sch, went she was leaving the centre, but the PMS admin lady didnt wan to open the dgateleading to the lift, but dunno for what reason lor... then the gal very angry so she gets angry then juz mouth out the word "@#$% U" to her, then she become PMSing lor, started screaming at the gal and her grp, telling anybody there not to open the gate, and she tried to call her other ppl to catch those gals, then she started asking the other admin staff to call the police officer at the polyclinic below... but before she could do that, the gals were gone as someone from the office area opened the gate for them, hahaha, too late, we were like so happy when she was like so damn piss with the gals... hahaha...
next thing was the hosptial visit cum viewing a clinical surgery, but when we reached there we were so disappointed as they haven done any of the calling of the hospital or anything lor... haiz... then when we asked when can we go see the surgery, they told us not during the 2 weeks of job attachment, so we ask for a date outside that 2 weeks, maybe during the middle of Dec, then they say see 1st... now for the shock when she asked us did we do anything other community service that r helping to raise funds... then she give us a booklet abt YMCA Citibank Youth For Course... then she finally dropped the bomb shell and told us that she wan us when we r there working at GSCHCC, to think of ways to raise $1000 each out of nth... and she said it in a way that if there isnt $1000 raised then there will be no hosptial visit cum surgery lor... then it is like WTF, i only join this stupid WAP for the viewing of the surgery then now tell me i cant get to see it in the 1 week and still have to raise $1000... and WTF $1000, that is no joke lor, haiz, there is like no way to raise $1000 in 1 week unless we go call big companies and ask for donations, but which stupid company will donate to them, they get nothing to offer them... stupid...
then on thursday, we encountered so many probs that we decide to called the teacher in charge of us to come down and discuss abt the things happening in the centre lor... when he came, we gave him our comments and complains abt the place then he go talk to the staff there... after that happened, the attitude of the staff towards us totally took a turn for the worst lor... they were like at the back saying loudly that we complained that we got nth to do, while giving us all the work we couldnt ever handle lor... so they like all got some attitude prob man, we r juz not cut out to be some social worker lor, especially when the ppl we r serving arent "normal"... haiz... this is juz one very big bad experience i had man, coz i went to other centre for other diseases, the staff there were like better and the whole experience was like far better...
with the above experience of the attitude change, on the final and last day, we decided that we r not going for the rest of the next week le, coz 2 of us still need to work there next week, i got a reason not to go, so we were like cocking up story not to work next week, but the 2 of us managed to get some what of a true reason rather than a pure lie to get out of there... hahaha... a little lie to escape of torture wont hurt anyone lor... but it was really crap there like, cant wait to go home everyday lor... haiz...
one gd thing is that they were able to arrange for the 3 of us to join some RGS gals on a hosptial visit to a private hosptial (forget the name le but it is in town one)... then we decided to go that visit as it allows us to escape from work earlier... during the visit, all the RGS gals there, some nerd-looking, some look damn mature lor, then got this gal look damn mature so i ask my fren if she was the teacher, then out of the blue, she replied "NO" in a very harsh tone, then i was like shocked, i speak so softly and she heard it and replied... then during the whole tour around the hosptial can see that she is telling all her frenz abt me asking if she was the teacher, but she really looked damn mature... not old tho... hahaha... but the stupid thing is i m the only guy in that grp... wow it sucks man, coz in a hosptial there r places where guys will nv meant to work there, then when we visit those places the tour guide like tease me lor... hahaha... then the private hosptial there got suites one, i thought suites r for hotels only, and i look damn grand inside lor, and the best suite got 3 plasma tv... not 1, not 2 but 3 plasma tv... but the price is $3000 a day... thats cost a bomb, literally...
the overall rating i m going to give this company is low... coz there is some prob with the management of the place lor... there r like conflicts among the staff... haiz... until this conflicts r solve, i will find this company unable to function well in the future... and nv give promises of surgery viewing if it is not done before hand lor... stupid ass... literally i had juz worked for FREE...
but at least the horrible experience of work attachment is behind me, tml going to NTU for my NTU-JC Challenge le... hahaha... so happy finally dont need to stay at home, but haiz, cant bring my whole com there, sure bored to death there lor... but i think i m going there for the experience of research... hahaha...
